Bullett Raja

Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, ‘Bullett Raja’ (Saif Ali Khan) is one weird ass movie.  It stars Sonakshi Sinha (as aspiring actress Mitali) too, but the story really is all about the men (Jimmy Sheirgill as BFF Rudra, Vidyut Jamwal as good cop Arun, and Gulshan Grover as Financier Guy whose name I can’t  be bothered to remember) and machismo and mullets and stuff. Now, if there aren’t any layers to it other than the one about a guy wanting to avenge his friend’s death, then this is the most boring film ever made. But if the nuanced undertones I detected were actually intentional, this is the most significant piece of LGBTQ cinema to come out since ‘Brokeback Mountain’ and ‘Mission Istanbul’. Fair warning – it’s not intended and this film is about as significant as the amount of non-regressive traits in any character Sonakshi Sinha has ever played in her career.
