Shiddat

Supp, you! If you’ve been here before, you know the drill. If you’re a new reader, welcome! I hope you have fun. Just a reminder that you should consider joining The Vigil Idiot Fan Zone for access to bonus recaps that only members have access to. There’s a bunch you might not have read yet, including ‘Mimi‘ and ‘Haseen Dillruba‘! Enjoy!

So ‘Shiddat’, starring Sunny Kaushal, Radhika Madan, and Mohit Raina, isn’t a film I was planning on watching. I mean, I like Radhika Madan enough, but nothing else about this film screamed “Must Watch”, yaknow? Fuckin’ Hotstar kept pushing the thumbnail front & centre every time I logged on to the site, though, and I kinda got lulled into checking it out. Lemme tell ya, this is one time that I’m glad I let the algorithm get to me because this film is a dumpster fire in the most hilarious way possible.

It’s honestly like someone had a setup – guy meets girl – and decided to have the characters pick the most absurd choice available to them at every point a decision needed to be made. It’s the only way I can explain how a film that starts off as a youthful romcom in Delhi ends up as a tragedy involving illegal immigration and a plane accident on the French-UK border. But, hey, don’t let me spoil it for ya without context. Just read on.
